The first instalment to a series of walls entitled "Stagnant Mound Ghosts" - this wall was made to join the gargantuan compilation of HNW (and various 'derivatives', cousins, step-siblings and cousins-thrice-removed) on the HNW netlabel celebrating its 100th release.
In months, or perhaps years, to come as the series grows, there will come a time when nature takes its inevitable course and the series comes to a definitive end - when it does, and only then, I will be assembling all of the SMG walls together in one place. Until then, all individual intalments to the series will always function as parts of a greater whole (here in this compilation, and later in possible future split releases and collaborations). The second instalment is this projects side to a split with Wallmaster (Jason Campbell).
The concept of the 'stagnant mound ghost' is a symbolism pertaining to the preferred habitats and diets of Lucanidae (undergrowth: dark, moist areas with a tendency for stagnant or dead wood, etc.) and the human cultural history of burial mounds and depictions of the afterlife through the disembodied bodies of ghosts. The ghosts, or spirits, of the stagnant mound are those of Lucanidae - their "corporeal shells" having deceased, their essence now safely returned to the sanctuary of a tomb catered to their interests and life practises.
Lucanidae will likely have a full-length album release on the netlabel in the forseeable future (possibly the second instalment to the Larval Incantation series).
